BIOGRAPHY

Prof. Shen-Long Tsai studied Environmental Engineering at Da-Yeh University for his bachelor degree (2001) and Chemical Engineering at Nation Tsing Hua University for his master (2003). He then obtained his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside for work on genetically engineering yeasts towards energy and environmental applications (2011). After postdocing at the University of Delaware, he joined National Taiwan University of Science and Technology as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and got promoted as an Associate Professor since 2016. His research interests focus on synthetic biology with advancing designs and applications. Using his expertise in molecular engineering, protein engineering, and microbial consortia engineering, his group is developing new techniques to reprogram microbes, proteins and biomaterials for the application of health, health, environment and energy. Current researching topics are summarized below:

1、Bioinspired engineering for novel protein and enzyme synthesis.
2、Designed protein modules for precious metal ions recovery from wastewater streams.
3、Synthetic biology for environmental remediation and biofuel production.
4、Next generation biosensors for environmental monitoring and clinical diagnostics.
5、High-throughput methods for protein drug screening.and recalcitrant diseases.
